More from James' B-day!

We had a small party at Nana Richardson's house on Sunday. James requested a Hot Wheels cake and here is what we came up with (with some help from an online search).

The flames were the hardest part to figure out but they came out pretty good in the end.

My Baby is 9!!!!!!!!!!!

I can't believe my baby is 9!! Doesn't it seem like just yesterday when we brought our very first baby home from the hospital? I can hardly believe that 9 years have gone by so quickly!!! So to celebrate the big day we joined a homeschool group in Maine for a field trip to the Southworth Planetarium. James invited a couple of his friends and his new cousins to come along with us. We dropped off the girls with Nana Kelley and hit the road just me and SIX boys!!! I was a little unsure about how it all would go and whether I would be ready to leave them all in Portland by the end of the day but it actually went really well! We all had a good time at the planetarium and then went to Friendly's for munchies and ice cream. These next couple of pics I took of the boys on the way home, the sun was setting and looking pretty so we pulled over to the side of the road and had a quick photo shoot!This was a silly face pic!

We then went back to Nana and Bumpa's house for birthday dinner, dessert, and presents of course!! Here Ethan, James and Caleb pose for a pic:

James was really excited about all the nice gifts he got! Hot Wheels, a new ski coat and the the bow and arrow set were some of his favs! He can't wait to try this one out with Dad:

Corn Dog Mini Muffins Recipe

When I saw this recipe I immediately thought of James who seems to have some fascination with corn dogs! I have no idea how this came to be because we never have corn dogs as a family! Anyway these little guys looked and sounded yummy! And it is an easy and different idea for hot lunches, which are sounding more and more appealing this time of year!

I used a different corn bread/muffin recipe (we like the one on the back of the Hodgson Mill Old fashion Corn Meal bag) and it made 24 mini muffins and 6 regular muffins!

Here is James chowing down his mini corn dog muffins! I know he looks a little sick in this pic but he really did love them and chowed down 6 or 8 of them...I lost count!

James' New Wheels

Having outgrown his old bike by quite a bit we had to break down and buy him a new one (with some help from Nana and Bumpa, thanks)! He wanted me to snap a pic to post on the blog so here he is on his new hot rod!
